This well-documented book gives a comprehensive history of the family of Jacob Schmitt (1808-1892) and Anna Goedert (1806-1882). They, along with the families of Nicholas Adams and Nicholas Frett, left the Eiffel area of Munk, Mayen, Rhineland, Prussia (today Germany), and from the port of Le Havre immigrated to America aboard the ship Albany. They arrived at the Port of New York on 2 August 1841. These three families founded the town of Johnsburg, Illinois (McHenry County) and established Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church there.
The book identifies the children of Jacob and Anna, their four dozen grandchildren, over 120 great-grandchildren, and over 300 great great grandchildren. Some descendants eventually relocated to communities across the United States. The book includes references to web sources and many photographs of the descendants. Useful features of the book include color-coding to distinguish the generations and an index of names.
Sandie, the Compiler, is a 3x maternal great grandchild of Jacob and Anna. She has been a member of the McHenry County Genealogical society and the McHenry County Historical Society. This book is a result of her dedication to preserving the heritage of her family, which includes three children, six grandchildren and presently two great-grandchildren of her own.
David, the Publisher, is a paternal 2x great grandson of Jacob and Anna. He is the son of Rosa C. Nimsgern and Henry “Hank” Joseph Kennebeck. His previous books include The Pivotal Pastor (Auhor). Remembering Ron Lewinski (Editor). and Rosa’s Little Book of Recipes (Author). He is pleased to publish this compilation by his niece Sandie L Schwarz.
